The Grand Ledge Masonic lodge was given a scholarship fund at the passing of one of our brothers several years ago. This account accrues dividends and interest in the course of the year (we aim to never dip into our principle) and is then supplemented with other fund raising events (e.g. the Grand Ledge Winterfest Chili Cookoff). We are now able to generously give away scholarships to local, college-bound high school seniors.
In 2016, the two scholarships we’re giving away are as follows:
$1000 – Grand Ledge Masonic “Dave Morris” Memorial College Scholarship
This scholarship is available to any college-bound high school senior in the Grand Ledge Michigan area. Each of the following MUST be completed by each applicant.
- Complete Application
- SAT or ACT test scores
- Two letters from school personnel
- Two letters from non-school personnel
- A written essay. Compare and contrast the following quotes from famous Americans. Explain why these quotes were important to the writers, and how they relate to each other:
“It takes many good deeds to build a good reputation, and only one bad one to lose it.” – Benjamin Franklin
“Do the right thing. It will gratify some people and astonish the rest.” – Mark Twain

- Complete Application
- SAT or ACT test scores
- Two letters from school personnel
- Two letters from non-school personnel
- Provide proof of Masonic Affiliation – (up to two generations back …Brother, Father or Grand Father)
- A written essay. Compare and contrast the following quotes from famous Americans. Explain why these quotes were important to the writers, and how they relate to each other:
